It’s officially winter here in the Wet Mountains. As the second snowstorm in the last two weeks moved in, some big herds of elk showed up here on neighboring Bear Basin Ranch. Traditionally there is more snowfall to the south of us and this time of year many elk migrate northward to slightly lower elevations where there is more exposed vegetation to forage.
